2002 - Charles qualified as a solicitor at Shadbolt & Co which was then a top tier construction and arbitration law firm.
2004 - Master of Science degree (MSc) in Construction Law and Arbitration from Kings College London.
Litigation - Broad experience of dispute resolution from multi-party building and engineering disputes in the Courts in England to conducting statutory and contractual adjudication in the UK [reported case Westminster v Beckingham [2004] EWHC 138 (TCC)].
2010 – UAE - handled commercial litigation in the both the UAE and DIFC Courts and domestic and international arbitrations.

Resort hotel project Abu Dhabi - claim by main subcontractor against the main contractor for termination, underpayment, wrongful call on the performance bond and liability to its subcontractor.
Burj Khalifa - Advising a subcontractor in relation to design claim on the landmark building project in Dubai.
14 Claims for an international firm of PM/Built Asset Consultants.
Mechanical Electrical Plant - repeat instructions from a firm of MEP engineers.
Repeat work for a major UAE family owned construction group.
Arbitration
Conduct of DIAC, DIFC LCIA and LCIA proceedings for claimant and defendant.
Master developer – advising in relation to a potential arbitration claim for AED 390M.
International arbitration – ICC arbitration for one of the region’s most prominent Investment Groups against a listed Greek conglomerate – AED 400 million.
Successful claim at arbitration under LCIA Rules on behalf of a project management company.
Defended a DIAC arbitration claim for AED 350 million on behalf of a Dubai government entity in DIAC arbitration proceedings. The claim was withdrawn following the Response.
Arbitration enforcement - proceedings in the Court of First Instance, Court of Appeal and Court of Cassation.

Charles has drafted and negotiated main contracts, sub-contracts and consultant appointments for employers' agents, CDM coordinators, architects, engineers and M&E consultants, and procured and drafted employer and funder/bank warranties and the novation of consultants. He has also advised on insurance and coverage issues.
